Andy Williams has scored one goal in 10 appearances for Doncaster this season

Doncaster Rovers will be without Andy Williams for up to four months after the striker suffered an ankle injury.

Williams, 31, was forced off during Tuesday's 3-0 defeat by Wigan and manager Darren Ferguson said he would be unavailable until about March.

"Unfortunately Andy is going to be out for quite a while - three or four months," he said.

"It was a horrendous tackle. Where he was caught, his foot was planted so there was no support to help him."

He continued: "He's going to see a specialist. Whether or not we actually operate or whether we can rehab it, the timescale won't change."

Williams, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has joined fellow Doncaster strikers Alfie May and Alex Kiwomya on the sidelines before Saturday's League One game against MK Dons.
