Irish Premiership: Coleraine's lead down to four points

Irish Premiership leaders Coleraine saw their advantage at the top reduced to four points as a result of being held to a 1-1 draw by Ballymena United.

Second-placed Crusaders were 2-0 winners over Cliftonville thanks to two goals by midfielder Gavin Whyte.

Linfield's title defence suffered another blow as they suffered a late 2-1 defeat away to Glentoran.

Glenavon consolidated third place by beating Warrenpoint while Ards and Dungannon also recorded victories.

Scott Davidson scored the goal which gave Ards a 1-0 home success over Carrick Rangers.

Whyte broke away for a late second as Cliftonville pressed for an equaliser.

Cameron Stewart shot Linfield into the lead but Allen pounced to equalise just before half-time.

The game was well into stoppage-time when Linfield defender Matthew Clarke deflected Robbie McDaid's shot in for an own goal which put Glentoran 2-1 up.

But the drama did not end there as the Glens had Dylan Davidson sent off for a second yellow and Linfield's Mark Haughey saw a last-gasp effort disallowed for offside.
