Cenk Tosun has scored eight goals in 24 games for Turkey
Everton hope to discover in the next 24 hours if they have been successful in securing a £25m deal for Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun.
Manager Sam Allardyce confirmed Everton had made an offer for the 26-year-old.
Negotiations are continuing, with Besiktas believed to be holding out for a slightly higher fee.
Allardyce said after Everton lost 2-0 to Manchester United at Goodison Park: "We have done all we can. I presume we will know more in the next 24 hours."
Tosun has helped Besiktas reach the last 16 of the Champions League, where they meet Bayern Munich.
"We need a bigger goalscoring threat than we have got and that may help us achieve more results," said Allardyce, whose side did not have a shot on target against United.
"I can't guarantee whoever comes in is going to score goals right away."
And he added on Tosun: "Our deal is in. It is up to them whether they accept our deal."
