Hamilton's Greg Docherty has agreed terms with Rangers and is expected to complete his move to Ibrox on Thursday.
The 21-year-old midfielder was left out of Accies' squad for Wednesday's Premiership meeting with Hearts.
Rangers have been in talks with Hamilton throughout January, with a fee finally agreed for the player, who made his debut in December 2013.
Docherty arrived at Rangers' training ground on Thursday to finalise his transfer to the club.
"Greg is now in the hands of Rangers," said Hamilton chairman Ronnie MacDonald of the player who has scored three goals in 25 games this season.
"The financial agreement has been signed by both clubs, so it's up to Rangers to contact him and arrange a medical. Rangers have acted really well on this. The finishing line has been far away at times, but we got there.
"[the undisclosed fee] is part of what we need for our income. We don't carry a lot of financial clout because of our low support. We don't go out to sell people, but when they get the chance to move to the top level, that's mission accomplished for us.£
Docherty becomes Rangers' fifth arrival of the window, after the loan signings of Russell Martin, Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings.
The midfielder, who Hamilton manager Martin Canning rates as highly as fellow Accies youth graduates James McCarthy and James McArthur, could make his debut on Sunday, when Rangers travel to face Ross County.
