Oldham Athletic 1-0 Milton Keynes Dons

New MK Dons boss Dan Micciche is still seeking his first point since taking charge after a narrow defeat at League One relegation rivals Oldham.

It is now four straight league and cup losses for Micciche, whose side were beaten by Anthony Gerrard's first-half goal.

Dons could have led after just six minutes when Chuks Aneke chased down Scott Wootton's pass and was denied by Oldham goalkeeper Johny Placide.

Robbie Muirhead also went close before Oldham's Craig Davies fired a good chance wide of the far post.

The breakthrough came after 40 minutes, with Latics captain Gerrard jumping highest in a packed penalty area to head home Ben Pringle's corner.

It was almost 2-0 moments after half-time as Duckens Nazon saw his shot deflected inches over the crossbar with goalkeeper Lee Nicholls stranded.

Dan Gardner's effort flew just wide for Oldham, who continued to edge a scrappy game played in heavy conditions.

MK Dons failed to register a serious shot on goal in the entire second half and they remain rooted in the League One drop zone.
