Fleetwood Town 1-1 Milton Keynes Dons

  • Published

John Sheridan managed to end Fleetwood's eight-game losing spree as his first match in charge finished in a draw with fellow strugglers MK Dons.

A crucial three points still eludes the Lancashire club but just days after taking over the hotseat from Uwe Rosler, Sheridan saw his team fight back to stay one point above the League One relegation zone.

It was not the best start for the new Town head coach as his side fell behind in the 20th minute.

Fleetwood have conceded the most goals from outside the box in the whole division and once again Alex Cairns found himself picking the ball out of the net as Robbie Muirhead curled home.

Town forward Conor McAleny rattled the woodwork seconds later but the home faithful had to wait until the 54th minute to see their side level as Ashley Hunter pounced and rifled the ball home.

McAleny had numerous chances to win it for the hosts late on but the in-form Lee Nicholls kept him at bay.
