Leeds United finished their Championship season with a routine victory against QPR at Elland Road.

Roofe put Leeds in front with a close-range overhead kick after the R's failed to clear a corner.

Phillips doubled the advantage shortly after half-time with a left-footed shot from just outside the box.

QPR offered little threat throughout and could have conceded again, but Leeds debutant Ryan Edmondson's shot was deflected narrowly over.

The victory was Leeds' fourth in 16 games under manager Paul Heckingbottom, leaving them 13th in the table, having finished seventh in the 2016-17 season.

Ian Holloway's QPR ended the season 16th, comfortably clear of relegation but six points away from a top-half finish.

Leeds boss Paul Heckingbottom told BBC Radio Leeds:

"Lots of good things from the performance, we changed things round and picked a team which had more energy up front.

"We were good with the ball but the standout thing for me was that we were far better without the ball than we have been.

"These next few weeks will be the most important for me and the club in terms of the bearing for next season."

QPR boss Ian Holloway told the club website:, external

"The young lads have got to learn but there was probably too many youngsters in there to learn all together.

"But I will say that I think Leeds played very well. They moved the ball well and caused us problems.

"I am still very proud of the young lads we have got coming through."
