Southend United have signed Harry Lennon from Charlton and Scunthorpe's Sam Mantom for undisclosed fees.

Defender Lennon, 23, joins the League One side on a three-year contract.

Mantom, 26, who had spent the second half of last season on loan with the Shrimpers, joins on a two-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.

The ex-West Brom youth player reached successive League One play-off semi-finals with Walsall in 2015-16 and Scunthorpe last season.

Lennon came through Charlton's youth academy and featured 40 times, scoring two goals, after making his first-team debut in January 2014.

"Harry (Lennon) has the attributes and attitude to be a top player," Shrimpers boss Chris Powell told the club website., external
