Doncaster Rovers 0-0 Portsmouth

  • Published

Portsmouth's perfect League One record ended with a goalless draw at hard-working Doncaster Rovers.

Doncaster goalkeeper Marko Marosi made three vital second-half saves before being sent off for handball outside the area, but Rovers were good value for their point.

The home side played the better football during the first half and gave Pompey very little time to settle on the ball.

Doncaster set the tempo from the first whistle and kept Craig MacGillivray busy in the visitors' goal but failed to make their dominance count.

Andy Butler went close with a header, Ben Whiteman curled a free-kick just over the bar and MacGillivray denied Alfie May and Mallik Wilks from close range.

Pompey were much-improved after the re-start and Marosi superbly denied Gareth Evans from close range before pulling off an even better double save from Brett Pitman and Evans.

Marosi was red-carded late on for handling outside his area and midfielder Whiteman had to go in goal but Doncaster's 10 men held firm for a deserved point.
