Torquay United have appointed former Yeovil, Bristol City and Cheltenham Town boss Gary Johnson as manager.
The National League South side parted company with Gary Owers on Wednesday after just three wins in their opening nine league games this season.
Johnson was sacked by the League Two Robins in August after over three years in the role.
His first game in charge of the Gulls will be Saturday's trip to Hungerford Town.
Johnson told the club website:, external "It has been a crazy 36 hours in meeting Clarke Osborne and his team, understanding the club, understanding his ambition and resource and seeing the determination to succeed.
"I have been really impressed with the plans to equip Torquay United with the facilities and finance to challenge in the Football League and I believe that I can lead the club back to League Two and beyond.
"It is for these reasons that I have chosen to take up this challenge.
"It's not going to be easy but a strong professional organisation and determined, resourceful owners provide the tools to succeed."
Torquay dropped out of the EFL in 2013-14.
