Scunthorpe United have signed St Mirren midfielder Adam Hammill on an 18-month contract, as well as Oxford United right-back Tony McMahon on loan.

Hammill, 30, scored four goals in 13 games during a short spell with the Scottish Premiership side, after leaving Barnsley in May.

McMahon, 32, has moved to Glanford Park until the end of the season.

He has played 13 times for Oxford since joining on a two-year deal in 2018 but last played in League One in November.

"Tony is a great professional but for personal reasons he wants to move closer to home right now," Oxford boss Karl Robinson told the club website.

Hammill previously made 100 league appearances in his second spell at Barnsley, having also played for clubs including Huddersfield and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
