Anton Ferdinand has signed a contract extension with St Mirren until the end of the season.

The former West Ham centre-half joined the Scottish Premiership side in September initially until January.

The 33-year-old, who is the brother of former England defender Rio, has made 14 appearances for the club, who are second bottom of the table.

"It's a big boost for everybody to have him stay on-board," said manager Oran Kearney.

"It's taken a bit of time, but we've had respect for Anton and he has been respectful for us as well.

"His presence about the place has been brilliant both on and off the pitch."

St Mirren have also brought winger Kyle McAllister back from Derby County and signed Bournemouth goalkeeper Jordan Holmes on loans until the summer.

Neither player has made a first-team appearance for their parent clubs.

But 21-year-old Holmes has been brought in to compete with recent new signing Vaclav Hladky as Danny Rodgers has suffered a recurrence of a knee injury.

And 19-year-old McAllister returns to the side where he made his senior breakthrough before joining Derby.
