Experienced Crewe Alexandra defender Nicky Hunt has signed a new one-year deal with the League Two club.

Hunt, 35, who can play all across the back four, featured 25 times in all competitions for the Alex after joining from Notts County last summer.

He has previously had spells at Bolton, Bristol City, Preston, Accrington, Rotherham, Mansfield and Leyton Orient.

Fellow defender George Ray has turned down the offer of a new contract, while seven others have been offered terms.

Alex boss David Artell is now waiting to hear back from striker Jordan Bowery, midfielders Oliver Finney, Regan Griffiths and Josh Lundstram, and defenders Travis Johnson, Luke Offord and Billy Sass-Davies.

Goalkeeper Dave Richards will remain, having triggered an automatic one-year option.

But four players have been released - keeper Ben Garratt, defender Michael Raynes, midfielder Joe Lynch and striker Alex Nicholls.

Meanwhile, forward Shaun Miller, 31, is to be made available for a free transfer this summer after holding talks with manager Artell.
