Omar Sowunmi and Michael Fernandes: Colchester sign Yeovil defender and Farnborough winger
- Published
Colchester United have signed defender Omar Sowunmi from Yeovil and winger Michael Fernandes from non-league side Farnborough on two-year deals.
Sowunmi, 23, is Colchester-born but came through the Ipswich Town academy before joining Yeovil and has scored five goals in 92 career games.
He missed four months with an ankle injury last season but played 19 games.
Fernandes, 19, previously had trials at Reading and Ipswich Town and scored 12 goals for Farnborough last season.
Head coach John McGreal said: "Michael will be straight into the first-team group as he's already done plenty of non-league game time."
Meanwhile, Diaz Wright, 21, has signed a new one-year contract to remain with the club for a further 12 months.
