Bournemouth have signed defender Jack Stacey from Luton Town for £4m on a four-year deal.

The 23-year-old was a key figure in the Hatters' successive promotions to the Championship and was named the club's young player of the year last season.

Scottish champions Celtic were linked with him before he joined the Cherries.

"I'm very happy," Stacey told Bournemouth's website. "There were a few clubs interested but Bournemouth was always the one I saw myself at."

He is Cherries boss Eddie Howe's second summer signing, after the £13m arrival of Lloyd Kelly from Bristol City.

Former Reading player Stacey is confident he can make an immediate impact in the top division of English football.

"This is a great club with a fantastic manager who helps establish young players, so that made it an easy decision in the end," he added.

"I believe I can thrive here and I can't wait to get started."
