Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu joins RB Leipzig on loan

Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu has joined Bundesliga side RB Leipzig on a season-long loan.
The 18-year-old Welsh international failed to make a Premier League appearance last season after signing a new five-year deal in September 2018.
He did not travel to Japan for Chelsea's pre-season tour and manager Frank Lampard said the loan move would help the player gain experience.
"I tried to sign Ethan on loan at Derby last year, so I'm a big fan," he said.
"But with the minutes he played last year, in the interest of Ethan and of Chelsea, the idea he can play a lot of games somewhere could be good for him.
"I really wanted to work with Ethan this year. That's a slight disappointment, but it's to benefit of him."
Ex-Manchester City winger Jadon Sancho and Arsenal's Reiss Nelson have enjoyed recent success in Germany - Sancho won England recognition after moving to Borussia Dortmund while Nelson scored seven goals in 19 Bundesliga games on loan at Hoffenheim last season.
"You see some names who've come over here and done well so back in Britain that shows a good light on the Bundesliga," former Exeter City man Ampadu said.
"I'm not here because I'm following everyone else, I'm here because it's a good club and it's a competitive league.
"My aim this season is to develop as a player, but also be part of the team and try and win something and when I go back to Chelsea I want to win something there."
