Lee Buchanan hit Derby's winner at Scunthorpe

Teenage debutant Lee Buchanan netted the only goal as Derby finally broke Scunthorpe resistance at Glanford Park.

Midfielder Buchanan, one of 11 changes by Rams boss Phillip Cocu, controlled George Evans' crossfield ball to fire in the winner 12 minutes from time.

The 18-year-old had earlier been denied by visiting keeper Rory Watson, who also foiled Jason Knight and Jamie Paterson.

Alex Gilliead and Adam Hammill both went close, but it was not enough to keep Scunthorpe in the competition.

Derby's reward is a clash with fierce East Midlands rivals Nottingham Forest at the City Ground in round two.
