West Bromwich Albion have signed experienced striker Charlie Austin from Southampton on a two-year contract.

On the day when Albion also made three season-long loan signings, 30-year-old former Swindon Town, Burnley and QPR frontman Austin completed a £4m move.

Austin has been troubled by injuries over the past few years but is a proven Championship goalscorer.

He has netted 150 career goals since being plucked from non-league football at Poole Town by Swindon in 2009.

Albion's new head coach Slaven Bilic was keen to strengthen his attack following the sale of Salomon Rondon and the failure to bring back Dwight Gayle, who scored 24 goals while on loan with Albion last season, from Newcastle United.

Meanwhile, Saints' former Birmingham City winger Nathan Redmond has signed a new four-year contract at St Mary's, tying him to the club until 2023.
