Bristol City sign Hungarian midfielder Adam Nagy from Bologna & Stoke striker Benik Afobe on season-long loan

Adam Nagy played 16 games for Serie A side Bologna last season

Bristol City have taken their haul of summer arrivals to 12 by signing Hungary midfielder Adam Nagy from Bologna, as well as Stoke City striker Benik Afobe on a season's loan.

Hungary international Nagy, 24, arrives on a three-year deal, for an undisclosed fee.

Londoner Afobe, 26, will look to add to his 81 career goals, at his 11th club.

It has been a summer overhaul for City following the lucrative sale of parting duo Adam Webster and Lloyd Kelly.

Head coach Lee Johnson and chief executive Mark Ashton have brought in defensive recruits such as Pedro Pereira, Tomas Kalas and Jay Dasilva.

The arrival of Nagy complements fellow midfield talent Han-Noah Massengo, Kasey Palmer, Tommy Rowe and Sammie Szmodics.

But the Robins were keen to sign a centre forward, something boss Johnson told BBC Radio Bristol he was targeting before the deadline.

And the Robins hope that former Arsenal, Huddersfield, Reading, Bolton, Millwall, Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons and Bournemouth striker Afobe, who helped fire Wolves to promotion to the Premier League in 2017-18, can fit the bill.

"Benik is a proven goalscorer who will add to our attacking force this season," said Johnson. "We believe he can find a home with us and we can provide him with the right environment for his goal-scoring ability."

Nagy has made 88 career appearances in total, including 31 for hometown club Ferencvaros back in Budapest.

"His energy and style of play will fit our team seamlessly," added Johnson. "I'm delighted he has chosen us over a number of other possibilities."
