Cameron Carter-Vickers & Mark Duffy: Stoke City sign duo on season-long loans

Southend-born Cameron Carter-Vickers has played eight times for the United States

Stoke City have signed Tottenham's United States defender Cameron Carter-Vickers and Sheffield United midfielder Mark Duffy on season-long loans.

Carter-Vickers, a 21-year-old centre-back, has yet to make a Premier League appearance for Spurs and spent all of last season on loan at Swansea City.

He has also had half-season spells in the Championship with Ipswich Town and Sheffield United in 2017-18.

Duffy, 33, helped the Blades get promoted to the Premier League in May.

He scored six goals in 36 Championship games last season and was also part of the Sheffield United side that won the League One title in 2017.

Mark Duffy's last goal for Sheffield United came in a 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest on 19 April

Duffy has played 423 games across all three tiers of the EFL and the National League, spending time at clubs such as Birmingham City, Scunthorpe United and Burton Albion.

"Cameron's arrival strengthens our central defensive resources which is something we made a priority after Ryan Shawcross suffered his unfortunate injury," Stoke manager Nathan Jones told the club website.

"He's a highly promising young player who has already shown that the Championship holds no fears for him.

"Mark is a player with real quality. We had to beat off a lot of competition to get him which speaks volumes for his qualities as a player.

"He will give us another dimension because he can play wide or as an attacking midfielder.

"He's got vast experience and he's coming from a club that has just got promoted so we're delighted to bring in a player like him."
