Storm Ciara: Man City v West Ham, rugby, WSL matches, horse racing all off
- Published
Manchester City's Premier League match against West Ham on Sunday has been called off because of Storm Ciara.
Scotland's Women's Six Nations match against England is also postponed and will now be on Monday at Murrayfield.
Huddersfield Giants v Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Trinity v Catalans Dragons in Super League are off.
All six Women's Super League matches, including Everton v Liverpool, have been cancelled, along with horse racing at Exeter, Southwell and Punchestown.
But Sheffield United v Bournemouth went ahead in the Premier League.
A Manchester City spokesperson said: "Due to extreme and escalating weather conditions and in the interests of supporter and staff safety, today's match has been postponed. West Ham will run free coach travel for their supporters when the fixture is rescheduled."
Scottish Rugby said the Women's Six Nations fixture will now be played on Monday at 13:30 GMT but behind closed doors because of safety concerns for spectators.
"Both Scottish Rugby, RFU and Six Nations agreed to a short turn round for the fixture which was postponed from Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow on Sunday lunchtime due to extreme weather conditions as a result of Storm Ciara," the Scottish governing body said in a statement.
"Weather conditions in Edinburgh on Monday will not be as severe as Glasgow but still forecast as challenging so the game will not be open to the public or have tickets on sale."
Arsenal's WSL match was postponed "on the grounds of crowd safety, due to extreme weather conditions".
More than 20,000 fans were expected for the WSL Merseyside Derby at Goodison Park, while Birmingham against Brighton, Bristol City v Reading and West Ham v Manchester City are also off.
Exeter's race meeting, where the 2019 Grand National runner-up Magic Of Light was due to run, was abandoned because of high winds.
The fixture at Southwell, which has an 'all-weather' surface, was also cancelled, along with the Irish meeting at Punchestown which was hit by 27mm of rain and flash flooding.
All five fixtures in the Women's Championship have been postponed, while the Dutch Eredivisie and Belgian Pro League and the Belgian second tier have postponed their fixtures.
Dutch champions Ajax were among the sides to have fixtures postponed, while Alan Pardew's ADO Den Haag have also seen their trip to Sparta Rotterdam called off.
