Anonymous donor gives £100,000 to Scottish women's football

Scottish women's football is to benefit from another significant cash influx after an anonymous donor gave £100,000.
The money donated via the Scottish Football Partnership Trust will help sustain the 26 clubs in the new regional SWF Championship.
Philanthropist James Anderson last month gave £250,000 to the SFPT, which is to help clubs mainly in SWPL1 and 2.
"This is another great boost for women's football," SFPT chair James Clydesdale said of the latest donation.
"It is very encouraging that another benefactor is prepared to support SWF at such a time.
"It shows how the status and progress of the women's game is recognised and acknowledged as an integral part of football in Scotland."
The women's season in Scotland had just started when football and the inaugural SWF Championship season was suspended in March because of coronavirus and each of the 26 clubs will receive an equal share of £3,846. Any gift aid from the donation will go directly to SWF.
"These clubs had shown great enthusiasm and effort to meet the entry criteria, which ranged from qualified coaches to improved venues and medical/physio support for players only to suffer such a setback in their first season," added Clydesdale.
