Walsall 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday (2-4 on pens): Owls go through after shoot-out
- Published
Sheffield Wednesday beat League Two Walsall on penalties after a dour Carabao Cup first-round tie.
After the game finished 0-0, the Championship side won through 4-2 on penalties, with Chelsea loanee Izzy Brown scoring the winning spot-kick.
Both teams struggled to create any real chances of note in a hard-fought but low-quality match.
Wednesday did have the better of what few opportunities there were, with sub Matt Penney twice going close in the latter stages.
