Europa League: Rangers, Aberdeen & Motherwell discover opponents

The second qualifying round will be played on 17 September

Rangers will be away to Lincoln Red Imps in the second round of Europa League qualifying.

The side from Gibraltar famously beat Celtic 1-0 at home in July 2016 before losing the Champions League qualifier on aggregate.

Aberdeen are away to Viking of Norway, while Motherwell visit Coleraine in Northern Ireland.

All ties will be played as one-off games on 17 September, with Celtic entering in the third round.

Rangers met opposition from Gibraltar last season, opening their run to the last 16 in the Europa League with a 10-0 aggregate victory over St Joseph's.

Lincoln Red Imps beat Titus Petange of Luxembourg 2-0 to set up a crack at Steven Gerrard's men, with the goals coming from Mustapha Yahaya and Lee Casciaro, who was on target when the part-timers humbled Celtic in what was Brendan Rodgers' first game in charge.

Coleraine are managed by former St Mirren boss Oran Kearney and stunned Maribor to progress, but Motherwell will take confidence from a 5-1 win against Glentoran in the first round at Fir Park.

Kearney's side finished second in the curtailed NIFL Premiership last season, with the new campaign due to start in October.

Aberdeen will be making their first European visit to Norway, although they did beat the Stavanger side 2-1 in a 2015 friendly at Pittodrie. Viking are 16 matches into their season but sit 10th in the league with just five wins.

Ludogorets and Tirana were the two sides dropping down from the Champions League to receive byes into the play-off round.

Celtic will be seeded in the champions path when the third round draw is done on Tuesday, while Rangers will be seeded in the main path should they prevail in Gibraltar.
