Blackpool have signed Arsenal centre-back Daniel Ballard on loan until January and Iceland defender Daniel Gretarsson on a two-year contract.

Ballard, 21, started Northern Ireland's last two Nations League games against Romania and Norway in September.

But he is yet to make his senior Arsenal debut, and had a loan spell at Swindon last season cut short by injury after just three appearances.

Gretarsson, 25, signs from Aalesunds FK for an undisclosed fee.

"It's a great opportunity to play for a club like Blackpool," Ballard said. "I'm really determined to do well here."

Gretarsson, who won his first Iceland cap in January 2020, added: "English football is very big in Iceland, and it's one of the best countries in the world to play the game.

"I remember Blackpool from when they played in the Premier League ten years ago and it was very special to watch."
