Alan Browne curled in Preston's equaliser moments before scoring his second

Two Alan Browne goals in as many minutes helped Preston North End come from behind to beat Huddersfield Town in the Championship.

Huddersfield striker Fraizer Campbell gave the hosts an early lead, slotting past Declan Rudd after a brilliant through ball from Lewis O'Brien.

But straight after the restart, Browne curled in an equaliser for the Lilywhites. And he doubled his tally moments later, lobbing goalkeeper Ben Hamer after he spilled Joe Rafferty's cross.

Terriers defender Naby Sarr was sent off late on for pulling back Emil Riis Jakobsen with the striker through on goal just past the halfway line, making it easier for the visitors to hold on to three points.

There had not been an away win in a league fixture between Huddersfield and Preston since 1992, and when Campbell netted for the hosts on his 200th league start, that trend looked set to continue.

The former Sunderland forward almost turned provider in the 38th minute, setting up full-back Pipa whose fierce strike was kept out by Rudd as the Terriers almost doubled their advantage.

But Preston were a team transformed in the second half, with Browne's quickfire double deservedly putting Alex Neil's side in front.

And after the hosts were reduced to 10 men by referee Josh Smith, the Lancashire club were untroubled in the closing stages, nearly scoring a third with Jakobsen striking the crossbar in injury time.

Both sides are now on 10 points and remain mid-table in a tight early-season division.

Preston North End manager Alex Neil:

"Our boys deserve unbelievable credit. We got back at 3am from London in midweek. Huddersfield had an extra day's rest.

"When you play Huddersfield, who run and run, that extra day's rest is important. For us to churn out what we did was brilliant. They left everything on the pitch.

"We have never lacked confidence and belief, we have never given up. We are not short of team spirit that's for sure."

Huddersfield Town boss Carlos Corberan:

"We scored the goal, they reacted and then we finished the first half well. We created chances and it was a positive start.

"We knew we had to start the second half well and we didn't. After that we saw the spirit and had to take risks.

"The first 10 minutes of the second half meant we couldn't get something from this game. We need to learn from this. We talked about the importance of the first minutes of the second half."
