Germany 3-1 Ukraine: Timo Werner scores twice in comeback victory
- Published
Timo Werner scored twice as Germany came from behind to beat Ukraine and boost their chances of reaching the Nations League finals.
They only need to draw with Spain in Seville on Tuesday to win the group.
Roman Yaremchuk powered Ukraine into the lead in Leipzig but Leroy Sane drilled in a leveller.
Chelsea's Werner headed in Leon Goretzka's cross from close range and then wrapped up the game with a deflected shot.
Ukraine - who could still be relegated - played well and Oleksandr Zinchenko and Marlos hit the post in the second half.
Spain's 1-1 draw with Switzerland means Germany now just need one point instead of three to qualify for the semi-finals next October.
