Colchester have re-signed Charlton midfielder Brendan Wiredu and Plymouth striker Frank Nouble, while left-back Josh Doherty has joined from Crawley.

Wiredu, 21, played 10 times for the U's on loan in 2019 and has signed for an undisclosed fee on a deal until 2022.

Nouble, 29, helped Colchester reach the play-offs last term and has returned on loan for the rest of the season.

Doherty, 24, has made 94 appearances for Colchester's League Two rivals Crawley and also joins on a loan deal.
