Highlights: Birmingham grab late equaliser to deny Villa

Veatriki Sarri scored deep into injury time as Birmingham City salvaged a vital point to stay above Women's Super League relegation rivals Aston Villa.

Freya Gregory's strike, after her initial effort hit the bar, seemed sure to take Villa three points clear of the drop zone with two games left.

The 18-year-old's goal was the only on-target attempt in 90 minutes.

But Sarri's messy leveller means Blues stay two points clear of Villa and three above bottom side Bristol City.

Birmingham's players and management celebrated as if the goal was enough to avoid the drop, but with title-chasing Manchester City still to play, their survival could rest on getting a result against Tottenham on the final day.

Villa, who face West Ham and Arsenal in their final two fixtures, appeared devastated having rarely looked like conceding after 18-year-old Gregory scored her first professional goal on a swift counter-attack.

They could have been ahead by then, with Chloe Arthur diverting an effort wide and Mana Iwabuchi twice narrowly off target with strikes.

But Gregory's goal looked good enough for maximum points until Sarri's free-kick from wide on the right somehow eluded everyone and found the net five-and-a-half minutes into six minutes of added time.
