Tottenham have been drawn against Northern Irish team Larne or Portuguese side Pacos de Ferreira in the inaugural Europa Conference League play-offs.

Larne have to overcome Pacos de Ferreira in their third qualifying round to set up the tie against Spurs.

Linfield will play Kairat Almaty or Alashkert if they get past Fola Esch.

Aberdeen face Limassol or Qarabag if they overcome Breidablik, while fellow Scottish side Hibernian play Bohemians or PAOK if they beat Rijeka.

The New Saints will face CSKA Sofia or Osijek if the Welsh side can overcome Viktoria Plzen to secure their progress.

The play-off round, which will decide who goes into the Europa Conference League (ECL) group stage, will be played over two legs on 19 and 26 August.

Tottenham reached the final ECL qualifying round after finishing seventh in the Premier League.

Italian side Roma, managed by ex-Spurs boss Jose Mourinho, also go straight into the ECL play-offs and face the winner of Trabzonspor and Molde.

Celtic and St Johnstone are in the Europa League play-off draw, but will drop down into the ECL if they lose respective ties against Jablonec and Galatasaray.

If they are in the ECL play-offs, Celtic would play Tobol Kostanay or Zilina, while St Johnstone have drawn Vojvodina or LASK.

What is the Europa Conference League?

For the first time in more than 20 years, there will be three European men's football club competitions, after the Europa Conference League was announced in December 2018 as part of a restructure from Uefa.

The Champions League is unaffected by the introduction of the new competition, but the Europa League group stage will be reduced from 48 to 32 teams, with an extra play-off round between the group stage and last 16.

The new competition will therefore feature teams who previously would have entered the Europa League at the preliminary, first and second qualifying rounds.

Matches will be played on Thursdays, alongside the Europa League, and the final will be held in Tirana, Albania on 25 May.

The winner will qualify for the following season's Europa League, providing they haven't gained a place for the Champions League through their domestic competition.
