Coventry City fought back from two goals down to earn a deserved point at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.

Tyler Walker sparked the second-half comeback with a neat first-time finish from Todd Kane's cross.

The Sky Blues' equaliser had a huge slice of luck about it as Liam Kelly's long-range strike crashed off the post before bouncing off the head of goalkeeper Thomas Kaminski and in.

Joe Rothwell's clever dink and Sam Gallagher's powerful effort into the top corner had put Blackburn 2-0 up, and they almost won it late on but Michael Rose cleared off the line following a scramble in the box.

The away point maintains Coventry's excellent start to the season, with Mark Robins' side fourth in the table, while Rovers are now without a win in three matches.

Blackburn could only name top scorer Ben Brereton Diaz on the bench after the 22-year-old played for Chile in the early hours of Friday morning.

But they did not appear to be missing their main striker when Rothwell and Gallagher played a neat-one two to set up the opening goal before Rothwell's cut-back was superbly finished by Gallagher on the stroke of half-time.

With Coventry growing into the game after the break, Walker halved the deficit and they were soon level as Kaminski could only watch the ball trickle over the line.

Blackburn pushed for a winner but an offside Brereton Diaz was denied by a superb stop by Simon Moore in stoppage time as both sides had to settle for a point.

Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray:

"I think ultimately we shot ourselves in the foot to be honest. I think we got into a position where the game should have been won, and yet some pretty basic errors led to their first goal and then, kicking to their own fans, you'd have to say gave them a lift. Ultimately, we've dropped two points.

"When it went to 2-2, we seemed to get back on the front foot and it looked like there was only one team going to win it. There are plenty of positives. We know they're a good side, but I do think we are really disappointed that we did not go on and win it."

Coventry boss Mark Robins:

"Second half, we came out and were really brave. To go two down was a real blow because it was a poor goal we gave them. But we know we're a good side when we believe and in the second half they showed belief and showed some bottle, had a go and it made for a really entertaining second half.

"I think we really deserved it (the draw)."
