Championship leaders Bournemouth reached the FA Cup fourth round as they beat National League Yeovil Town thanks to Emiliano Marcondes' hat-trick.

Marcondes gave the Cherries the lead with a cool finish and doubled his tally before the interval.

Joe Quigley pounced on Orjan Nyland's error to slot home for Yeovil.

With 20 minutes remaining, Marcondes wrapped up his hat-trick as he poked in from close range after Yeovil keeper Dillon Barnes failed to hold the ball.

Defeat for a spirited Glovers side brings their fine run in the competition to an end after reaching the third round for the second time in five seasons, while Bournemouth go through to the fourth round for the third successive season.

Danish striker Marcondes timed his run to perfection for the opener as he latched onto a long ball from Chris Mepham and once one on one with Yeovil keeper Barnes he slotted home with ease.

Despite having not scored since August prior to the trip to Huish Park, Marcondes added a second as he met Jaidon Anthony's pass before rolling the ball home.

Quigley's goal had given a vociferous home support some hope of forging a comeback before Marcondes completed his hat-trick to see his side through.

Yeovil Town boss Darren Sarll told BBC Somerset:

"We have a bit of a saying, never back down. We wanted to step into the challenge and battle.

"We didn't want to get to half-time and be talking about overly respecting the opponent.

"So we built that up mentally over the last couple of days and if I based it off what I asked of them, they played very well, no one ever backed down or shied out of a challenge."

Bournemouth boss Scott Parker told BBC Radio Solent:

"I thought we were very professional. The first half was textbook in how I wanted us to look in the sense of nullifying their threat.

"The defensive line was spot on today and we showed our quality with some of the goals we executed.

"In the second half we gave them a goal and it's fair to say they huffed and puffed but our quality came out and we got the third."
