John McGlynn has been confirmed as the new manager of Falkirk a day after announcing his Raith Rovers departure.
The 60-year-old former Hearts boss has agreed a two-year contract with the Scottish League 1 club.
McGlynn guided Rovers to fifth in the Scottish Championship, missing out on the play-offs by two points.
"It's a big job and a big football club, but we're excited at the prospect of trying to get it back where we think it should belong," said McGlynn.
Long-time assistant Paul Smith follows McGlynn, who steered Rovers to the SPFL Trust Trophy with victory over Queen of the South in early April.
However, the Kirkcaldy side slipped out of promotion contention after the controversial signing of David Goodwillie.
Falkirk finished sixth despite being one of the few full-time clubs in the third tier, with Martin Rennie leaving his post in April after four months.
McGlynn took charge of Raith for the second time in 2018, leading them to promotion to the Championship and a third-place finish last season before defeat to Dundee in the play-offs.
"It is with a heavy heart that I announce we will not be extending our contracts with the club," McGlynn said via a statement issued by the League Manager's Association.
"We leave the club in a far better place than when we arrived."
