Huddersfield Town's difficult start to the season continued as they fell to a defeat by in-form Bristol City.
Former Terriers striker Nahki Wells headed home a quality cross from the left from Jay Dasilva.
Huddersfield, beaten in last season's Championship play-off final, nearly levelled when Dan Bentley was forced into a fine save from Duane Holmes' shot.
Youngster Pat Jones then hit the post for the away side but moments later the Robins rounded off the win when Antoine Semenyo rifled home a thunderous strike after cutting in off the left.
A third straight 2-0 home victory for Nigel Pearson's men saw them move up to seventh in the table and make it seven games unbeaten in all competitions.
Town have now lost all three of their away matches in the Championship this season and have won just one of their first six games.
Andi Weimann nearly gave the home side a very early lead but his low shot came back off the post before Ollie Turton missed a great chance to put the Terriers in front when he headed wide from Sorba Thomas' cross.
Wells, who scored 44 goals in 143 league games for Huddersfield, gave the home side the advantage before the break with a quality header after getting between the centre backs.
Danny Schofield's men pushed on for a leveller but the whole game swung decisively in the Robins' favour in the 80th minute.
Teenager Jones, on as a substitute, saw his shot hit the post and the ball was then played up to Semenyo on the left flank for the home side. The Ghana international drove at Tom Lees before drifting in and hitting an unstoppable shot past Lee Nicholls in the Town goal to seal victory.
Bristol City will look to extend their unbeaten league run to six matches when they travel to Blackburn on Saturday, while Town, who are second-bottom, host Blackpool on Sunday.
Bristol City boss Nigel Pearson:
"Antoine has come back from his difficulties in the summer and doesn't look any different to before his injury.
"It's great to have options on the bench who can go on and affect the game. But Nahki Wells has also started well, having played largely a support role last season.
"It is up to the players in the team to keep their places and in the case of strikers that means scoring goals, which Nahki has done tonight.
"We deserved to win but could have seen the game out better. Most people have gone home happy because we won, but I have to look at the whole picture."
Huddersfield head coach Danny Schofield:
"The big positive at the moment is that the lads are giving everything.
"But games are decided on key moments. We had a great chance to score first with a far-post header at a time when I felt we were the better team and failed to take it.
"If that had gone in, we would be having a totally different press conference.
"Then we hit the post seconds before we concede the second goal. I told the lads afterwards that such moments are often the difference."
