Wigan Athletic won their fourth away game in a row after a hard-fought Championship victory over Rotherham at the New York Stadium.
Will Keane's first-half strike from close range and Tom Naylor's late header handed the Millers defeat in their first game since boss Paul Warne left for Derby.
The first 45 minutes saw both sides creating chances, but it was Keane's goal that gave the visitors the advantage.
The match fell flat after the break as the visitors looked to preserve their lead and force the home side to break through before Naylor made the points safe.
Rotherham's best chances came in the first half when striker Chiedozie Ogbene had his curling shot headed off the line and Conor Washington was inches away from toe-poking a low drive across the face of goal into the net.
Wigan were not short of chances themselves in the opening 45 minutes and came close to extending their lead when James McClean whipped in a dangerous corner that forced goalkeeper Viktor Johansson to backpedal and make a save.
With time running out to find an equaliser Ogbene found himself in a good position to have a shot but was brought down on the edge of the box. Cohen Bramall squandered the opportunity, firing well over the bar.
Wigan put the game to bed when midfielder Naylor flashed a brilliant header across goal to send the 1,700 travelling away fans into a frenzy.
Wigan, who kept their first clean sheet in six matches, have now won their past eight league games against Rotherham.
Rotherham joint caretaker manager and defender Richard Wood:
"Very disappointed. We always go out to win. But too many players didn't perform today.
"Credit to Wigan, they bullied us, and we conceded two sloppy goals.
"We did everything right in the week and training has been very good. I don't know if emotionally it's been a tough week with everything that's going on.
"But we've got a game Wednesday so we need to pick the lads up and get on with it and make sure we don't lose two on the bounce.
"We are a great side with great players. Today was just an off day."
Wigan Athletic manager Leam Richardson:
"Credit goes to the players who have had a really good working week. We know the challenge and task when we come to Rotherham because they have some fantastic players. We had to start the game well and see it through.
"Rotherham are a counter pressing team, so for us to follow through with our game plan is really pleasing, the lads worked really hard in-and-out of possession.
"I think as the game went on we got stronger.
"I don't think there are any negatives at the moment, we've only just been promoted from League One and have a very similar squad, and the lads are doing great.
"You can't get carried away though - the Championship holds so many challenges."
