FA Cup Highlights: Portsmouth 3-2 Milton Keynes Dons

Colby Bishop grabbed a penalty brace to send Portsmouth into the FA Cup third round with victory over fellow League One side MK Dons.

Pompey dominated the opening 20 minutes but fell behind when Dons forward Darragh Burns got in behind to clip over Josh Griffiths after a quick counter-attack.

The lead lasted just three minutes as Reeco Hackett-Fairchild latched on to a stunning Jay Mingi through ball to fire into the bottom corner for his fourth goal of the season.

The lively Mingi was hacked down by Josh McEachran in the 35th minute before Bishop sent Jamie Cummings the wrong way to complete the comeback.

Pompey thought they had taken control when Bishop thumped his second penalty of the afternoon down the middle to take his season tally to 13, after Hackett-Fairchild had been taken down by Bradley Johnson.

But Mo Eisa pulled one back in the 62nd minute after Conor Grant had squared in the box but the visitors could not force a replay, despite Grant forcing a fine save out of Griffiths in the closing stages.

Portsmouth manager Danny Cowley:

"We had a really good place in the game after we scored three goals - then conceded a soft one and that changed the momentum.

"We only have 15 fit senior outfield players so we can't underestimate our performance. For the players to navigate the game and still be in the competition is pleasing.

"We played really well until we scored the third goal, but after then,, we didn't quite get it right and kind of played for the end of the game. We are disappointed with the last half an hour but we showed spirit."

Milton Keynes boss Liam Manning told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"The lads were terrific in terms of attitude, drive and intensity right until the end and that has to be what underpins a performance.

"Discipline and quality was what cost us ultimately but there was so many things to take out of the game.

"We shifted the momentum in the first half and looked dangerous and then second half I was extremely disappointed with the manner of the goals we conceded."
