There were three Irish Premiership matches due to be played on Friday night

Four of this weekend's scheduled Irish Premiership matches have been called off because of frozen pitches.

Three of the games, Carrick Rangers v Glentoran, Ballymena United v Larne and Newry City v Coleraine, were due to be played on Friday night.

Glenavon v Crusaders was scheduled to be played on Saturday but the pitch at Mourneview Park failed a pitch inspection on Friday afternoon.

The playing surface at Taylors Avenue was also deemed unplayable on Friday.

That led to the postponement of the Carrick Rangers-Glentoran fixture.

The matches between Ballymena United and Larne and Newry City and Coleraine were called off following inspections on Thursday.

Two games are currently scheduled to be played on Saturday at 15:00 GMT, namely Cliftonville v Portadown at Solitude and Linfield v Dungannon Swifts at Windsor Park.

The recent freezing weather conditions in Northern Ireland put paid to one match last weekend - Glentoran v Glenavon.
