Plymouth Argyle remain second in League One after second-half goals from Ryan Hardie and Niall Ennis secured victory over Charlton Athletic.

Argyle have now won 15 and drawn one of their 17 home league games.

Hardie pounced when Charlton centre-back Luca Ness failed to control a bouncing ball in his own half and clipped it over advancing keeper Ashley Maynard-Brewer in the first minute of the second half.

It took the Scottish striker's tally to 16 goals, making up for a first-half stoppage-time miss.

The Argyle top scorer's first angled shot was saved by Maynard-Brewer, before follow-up was blocked on the line by Michael Hector.

Argyle increased their lead in the 87th minute when two of their substitutes combined to great effect.

Callum Wright crossed for striker Ennis to slot home and get the Green Army back on a winning track.

Daniel Kanu's break on the counter resulted in a good cross in the 80th minute but Charlton's attackers failed to pounce.

It was revealed that Charlton assistant coach Scott Marshall has left the Addicks to take up the same role with Ben Garner at Colchester.

Marshall joined Charlton in June 2022 under then Addicks boss Garner but stayed on after his sacking when Dean Holden was appointed in December 2022.
