"Albion will issue a further statement on the appointment of a new chief executive officer in due course."
Gourlay's departure throws Corberan future 'up in the air'
Analysis - BBC WM's Rob Gurney
Gourlay did have a close working relationship with head coach Carlos Corberan - and when there was talk of him returning to Leeds before Javi Gracia got the job, he got a new contract after only 13 games in charge as a result of that interest.
One of the main reasons was because of the working relationship he had with Ron Gourlay and now he's gone, and clearly Leeds are in the market for a manager again.
Whether fans thought ill of Gourlay or not he was at least a figurehead at the top of the club, which was providing a degree of stability.
Now there is no CEO and the club will very soon be in the middle of a summer transfer window, and where that leaves the club and whether Carlos Corberan will continue to resist overtures from other clubs is open to question.
