Crewe Alexandra have signed defender Ryan Cooney following his exit from fellow League Two side Morecambe.

The 23-year-old right-back was one of 14 players released by financially challenged Morecambe at the end of the 2022-23 season.

But he has penned a two-year-deal to become Crewe's second summer signing, following the arrival of Liverpool loan keeper Harvey Davies.

Crewe have also handed a new deal to teenage midfielder Charlie Finney.

The 19-year-old, who has signed up for two years and has an option for a further 12 months, has made 13 first-team appearances.

Finney, who first joined the club at the age of six, made his debut in the Carabao Cup last season, also having a brief spell out on loan at National League North club Chorley.
