Middlesbrough came from behind to beat ten-man Huddersfield Town and advance to the second round of the EFL Cup.
Kian Harratt had put the Terriers ahead after three minutes but Jaheim Headley was sent off for bringing down Isaiah Jones 10 minutes later.
Samuel Silvera scored on his first Boro start to equalise for Michael Carrick's side.
Second half goals from Jones and Riley McGree secured victory despite a late consolation from Kyle Hudlin.
Having lost their Championship opener to Millwall, Carrick was rewarded for making only five changes to his starting line-up.
But sloppy defending as they tried to play out from the back allowed Harratt to open the scoring for the home team.
Neil Warnock had changed all but one of his side that had lost to Plymouth in their league opener but his plans were hampered when 21-year-old Headley was shown a straight red for a professional foul.
Silvera quickly levelled and from there, the visitors took control.
Jones put them ahead as he slipped one past goalkeeper Chris Maxwell before Australia midfielder McGree, who had come off the bench, exploited gaps in the home defence to wrap up Boro's first win in this competition for three years.
Towering striker Hudlin headed home deep into injury time to reduce the deficit, but it was not enough to force the tie to penalties.
