Striker Dion Charles and boss Ian Evatt were sent-off for Bolton Wanderers, who continued their 100% start to the League One season with victory over Fleetwood Town thanks to Victor Adeboyejo's hat-trick.

The game threatened to unravel in the second-half as Charles received a second booking after coming together with Cod Army goalkeeper Jay Lynch from referee Tom Nield.

Evatt's fury saw him in dialogue with the fourth official, and after a Fleetwood challenge further raised his ire, Nield duly presented a red card to him just minutes after.

Such drama took some of the shine off what was otherwise a dominant and impressive first-half display from the Trotters, who have now scored three goals in each of their first three league games.

It took just three minutes for the Nigerian to get his first, after fine work from Charles and Paris Maghoma teed him up to steer home and a second followed soon after when he turned in Josh Dacres-Cogley's first-time cross.

Adeboyejo had his third before half-time, again meeting a Dacres-Cogley delivery to beat Lynch in the visitors' goal, and Charles picked up what would be a crucial yellow - one of eight in a feisty game - in stoppage time for a foul.

Both sides had goals disallowed in the second half, with Fleetwood's Promise Omochere deemed offside, while Adeboyejo was denied a fourth by the same means.

The two dismissals had little impact on the result, with Bolton having established control, and Josh Earl's late consolation did little more than deny the hosts a fourth-straight clean sheet in all competitions.
