Hull City captain Lewie Coyle suffered a fractured eye socket in Tuesday's defeat at Ipswich.
The 27-year-old defender was forced off in the 58th minute of the Tigers' 3-0 Championship loss at Portman Road.
"He came off the pitch really worse for wear and we had to take him into the hospital that night," boss Liam Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside., external
"He puts his body on the line for us every single week and at the moment he's been really unfortunate."
Rosenior added: "We don't know about the timescale yet because he has to see an eye specialist on Monday."
Hull, who travel to Millwall on Saturday, are ninth in the Championship.
