Portsmouth defender Conor Shaughnessy says a great feeling of togetherness in the squad has played a big factor in their unbeaten start to the season.

Pompey have seven wins and four draws in League One and are top of the table with a one-point lead over second-placed Oxford United.

"There is a great group here," Shaughnessy told BBC Radio Solent.

"All around, not just the players and staff, but everyone."

The 27-year-old Irishman added: "From top to bottom I think this is a really well run club at the moment.

"You should see the dressing room after games, there is a real togetherness all round and great feeling about this place."

Portsmouth fought from a goal down to beat Wycombe 2-1 at Fratton Park on Tuesday - the fifth time this season that they have come from behind to win.

Shaughnessy - who scored the winner in the 98th minute - says Pompey laid down a marker and are showing teams they are hard to beat.

"We don't want to be going 1-0 down that often," the centre-back added.

"But I think it shows real resilience, positivity and togetherness around the group to pull through them tough times and keep doing what we are good at and putting on performances.

"It was unbelievable [to score at the Fratton End in injury time] I don't think there is a better way to get my first goal for this club.

"To be fair to the guy who was marking me had won almost every header at the front post before that moment.

"But I thought, I'm just going to crash into it here and thankfully it paid off.

"There was no feeling like it - it was hard to control myself."

Portsmouth next host eighth-placed Port Vale on Saturday.
