Eileen Gleeson will remain in charge of the Republic of Ireland team for the remainder of the Uefa Women's Nations League campaign.

Gleeson was appointed interim boss in August after the Football Association of Ireland did not extend Vera Pauw's contract following the World Cup.

Dublin-born Gleeson guided the Irish to opening 3-0 and 4-0 Nations League wins over Northern Ireland and Hungary.

The Republic will face Albania home and away later this month.

The Nations League campaign will then continue with a home game against Hungary on 1 December before they face Northern Ireland away in their concluding match four days later.

Dublin-born Gleeson spent two years as Pauw's Republic of Ireland assistant before taking over as Glasgow City head coach in November 2021.

She left that role in January to become head of women and girls' football at the FAI.

Confirming that Gleeson would remain in interim charge, an FAI statement said: "Recruitment for a new head coach has reached a long list of candidates and this will move to a short list within the coming month."

When Gleeson was appointed interim manager, the FAI indicated that she was not in the running to be a permanent successor to Pauw.
