Norwich City have appointed Arsenal's loan manager Ben Knapper as their new sporting director.

The 36-year-old will move to Carrow Road on 27 November to replace Stuart Webber, whose six years in the job will end after "a handover period".

Knapper spent 13 years at Arsenal, joining them in 2009 as an analyst from then Second Division side Scunthorpe.

"We're excited to have Ben lead our football department," said Norwich executive director Zoe Webber.

"Throughout the interview process, we were all really impressed by Ben's depth of knowledge and excellent reputation in the industry, as well as his hunger and desire to join our club."

Knapper says Norwich have been a club he has "admired from afar for a long time".

He takes the role with the Canaries seventh in the Championship table after 10 games

Norwich finished 13th in Webber's final full season in the job. He twice helped the club win promotion to the Premier League.
