West Bromwich Albion midfielder John Swift has been ruled out for about six weeks with a calf injury.

The 28-year-old sustained the muscle strain in the second half of West Brom's 3-1 defeat by local rivals Birmingham City on Friday.

Swift had earlier given the Baggies the lead at St Andrew's, taking his season tally to six goals.

West Brom said they expect the midfielder to return following November's international break.

The timeline given means the former Reading player will miss five Championship games, including home matches against Plymouth, QPR and Hull as well as trips to Coventry and Southampton.
