Philippe Clement will start his reign at Rangers seven points behind Celtic in the league

Rangers have their third manager in the space of 11 months.

Philippe Clement has arrived in Glasgow to succeed Michael Beale after the Englishman - who was appointed at the end of November 2022 - was dismissed following a modest start to the season.

He is tasked with extracting more from a squad that was overhauled last summer - and ultimately bring the Scottish Premiership title back to Ibrox.

The Belgian is a fairly new name to a lot of Rangers fans, so we asked you what you made of the appointment.

This was your verdict...

'A genuinely exciting appointment'

Clement is as good an appointment as the club could make at this time. He has experience and success in the Belgium league and Monaco are not exactly European minnows. Unfortunately he inherits a poor squad with no confidence. Ronnie

Happy with the appointment. Need another window to see what can truly be done with the team. Hopefully see players in their proper positions, and James Tavernier finally told to either stay back, or be moved up and a right-back brought in who defends. Dougie

Excellent appointment. Someone without history at the club. Bring something different as Michael Beale was a nice guy but too rigid. Stew

The right man is now in place. We all need to back the boss and the players; stick together to bring success back to our club. Time to show what we are all about. Anonymous

A genuinely exciting appointment - I hope the club can back him financially in January though. The man isn't an alchemist. Ralph

Probably the pick of the candidates given his success in Belgium. But the long process will leave doubts if he doesn't start well, given the board appeared torn between him and Muscat. Promises football that will be better on the eye. Lewis

The doubters

Le Guen #2. Gone in March. Rito

Not the appointment I was hoping for. From all I have read so far he seems a bit like a carbon copy of Mr Beale. I truly hope I have got it all wrong, but I fear we are in for more of the same. Not much we can do about it except carry on hoping and believing. Steven

I just hope this appointment doesn't turn out to be another Paul le Guen. Sorry but I'm not a fan of foreign coaches, even Dick Advocaat didn't grasp what being Rangers manager was all about. Fraser Giffard

Some fans fear a repeat of Paul le Guen's unsuccessful tenure

Why appoint a manager that was sacked only months before? There is a manager still managing with knowledge about the club and the way Scottish football works. I thought Muscat was a better choice. Anonymous

Don't get excited by the prospect of new management now. Thought 2018 was the start of an era but was another false dawn. Hope he can inspire the players as some of the effort put in by so many players in recent seasons have been a disgrace. Del

'It's not the manager that worries me'

There's a load of dead wood in the team, like the back four - I hope he ships two out. Ronnie

I hope we kept our receipt for some of the new players that came in, as they need to be returned as faulty. Anonymous
