Mustapha Bundu says his first goal for Plymouth Argyle is one of the best of his career.

The 26-year-old Sierra Leone international blasted in a free-kick to give the Pilgrims the lead in their 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

The strike came on his first start for the Championship club since his deadline-day move from Belgian side Anderlecht on a two-year deal.

"It's up there in the top two or top three," Bundu told BBC Sport.

"It was an amazing feeling, the whole situation, my first start at home in front of the fans, in a game where we weren't really on top.

"To get that free-kick and to score and give everyone a breather was nice."

Having made five appearances off the bench, Bundu had not previously found the net, despite coming close in Saturday's 0-0 draw at West Bromwich Albion.

But his manager Steven Schumacher felt it was only a matter of time before his newest forward broke his duck as Argyle ended a five-game winless run.

"Since Mustapha's been in the building he's scored goals in training regularly," Schumacher told BBC Sport.

"He's a really good striker of the ball, he's a good finisher, he hits it clean, similar to Morgan Whittaker.

"When they were standing over it (the free-kick) I was expecting Morgan to take it, but thankfully he didn't, Mustapha has taken it and smashed it in off the crossbar."

Schumacher added: "It's taken him time to build himself up fitness-wise, but he's impressed all the players since the first day he came in, everyone could see straight away 'wow, he's got some quality'.

"He's got loads of ability, he's a big physical presence and he gives us something different, so it's been a great start for him - his full debut at Home Park, he gets off the mark in the Championship and hopefully that gives him confidence."

Bundu received a standing ovation when he came off with 20 minutes to go, to be replaced by Argyle top scorer Ryan Hardie - whose spot he had taken in the side.

Hardie went on to get Argyle's third goal, and Bundu says he has enjoyed working with the Scot.

"I thought Ryan did really well again today, I'm learning off him, he's learning off me," Bundu added.

"He said to me 'good luck' before the game and he told me I was going to score - and when I went off, I went to the bench and I said I thought he was going to score.

"The most important thing is that whoever plays is contributing to the team and once the team is getting wins, that's the most important thing."
