PSV Eindhoven 5-2 Ajax: Managerless Ajax bottom of Eredivisie after fifth successive top-flight loss

Ajax dropped to the bottom of the Eredivisie table after they lost at PSV Eindhoven for a club record fifth successive Dutch top-flight defeat.
On Monday, Ajax sacked coach Maurice Steijn before they lost 2-0 at Brighton in the Europa League on Thursday.
PSV's Hirving Lozano scored a hat-trick, with Luuk de Jong and Ismael Saibari also on target on Sunday.
Ajax, 36-time Dutch champions, twice went ahead through goals from Branco van den Boomen and Brian Brobbey.
They led 2-1 at half-time, before the hosts equalised three minutes after the restart with Saibari putting them ahead three minutes later.
Lozano, who had scored PSV's first goal with a low shot in the 20th minute, got his second following Johan Bakayoko's low cross before completing his treble in the 72nd minute.
Ajax, under interim boss Hedwiges Maduro, scored the opening goal of the match through Van den Bommen and Brobbey restored their lead following a pass from former Tottenham forward Steven Bergwijn.
But it was not enough as PSV scored four times in the second half to move five points clear.
Ajax were Dutch champions in 2021-22 under Erik ten Hag, before he became Manchester United manager but now have just five points from their first eight games.
"Ajax is now last in the Eredivisie with only five measly points," said a statement on the Ajax supporters' club website.
"That hurts a lot. Still, we can draw some strength from the first half in Eindhoven. The players showed that they can indeed play football.
"Hopefully, that will give us some confidence in the coming weeks, where Ajax will have to climb out of the depths."
